HACCP Training Sessions for Association Members
As you may know, since 1 June 2021, the implementation of HACCP principles has become mandatory in Georgia for food service businesses that produce and/or process food, including restaurants, cafés, canteens and other public catering facilities.
For this reason, our associations — the Georgian Ecotourism Association and Women in the Wine Industry — with the support of GIZ, have decided to offer our members a one-day training session on the topic:
“Introduction to and Implementation of the HACCP System in Family Guesthouses, Small Food Service Facilities and Wine Cellars Managed by Women Winemakers.”
The training will be led by Natela Khurtsidze, an expert with many years of experience in the field. Along with other relevant topics, the training will cover the following issues:
- Basic concepts of food safety
- Legislative and regulatory requirements
- Prerequisite Programs (PRP)
- HACCP – Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points system
- Identification and assessment of food safety risks / development of a HACCP plan
- Control and monitoring programs
- Practical case study: implementation of a traceability system and a simulated product recall test
According to Georgian legislation, a food business operator is obliged to ensure that personnel handling food have received appropriate training in hygiene and food safety and are competent to perform their duties. Therefore, training participants will receive a certificate.
We are planning four one-day training sessions in Kakheti, Imereti and Samegrelo. The trainings will be held on the following dates:
Group I – 30 June, Akhmeta
Group II – 1 July, Telavi
Group III – 4 July, Zugdidi
Group IV – 5 July, Kutaisi
The exact venue for each training session will be shared with participants later.
The participation fee is GEL 50, which will be used to support the development of the Association.
