Turtle Lake Educational Trail

The forest surrounding Turtle Lake is a fascinating meeting point between nature and the city. As you walk along the route, you can observe different types of forests and shrublands, explore how they change, and see firsthand how the natural environment transforms over time.

The trail is particularly interesting for those who want to understand how forests recover and evolve, how human activity affects the environment, and how natural ecosystems develop. Along the way, you will encounter relatively natural, as well as degraded and secondary vegetation, turning the route into a living laboratory of nature.

The route is circular and begins on the northwestern shore of Turtle Lake. Initially, the trail heads west and, after a gentle uphill section, enters the forest. The forest trail gradually climbs to the ridge above Turtle Lake, offering wide panoramic views of the lake, forested slopes, and Tbilisi.

After crossing the ridge, the route continues through the forest and descends towards Turtle Lake. The trail ends on the southeastern shore of the lake.
